Vision & Values

Our Vision
In conjunction with the Sisters of Mercy, our cardiovascular care team is dedicated to providing patients with compassionate, quality, cost-effective care through state-of-the-art advancements in research, diagnostic screening, surgical and interventional procedures, clinical education and preventive/wellness programs for the improvement of cardiovascular health.

Our Values
From the beginning of Mercy's cardiac surgery program in 1974 to the formation of Mercy Heart Institute in 1989, our team of cardiovascular healthcare professionals has been dedicated to the mission and values of the Sisters of Mercy. We believe a healing environment respects the dignity of all patients and their individual treatment choices. Our philosophy of patient care stresses the importance of including the patient's family and friends in the healing process.

Advanced technology and highly trained physicians are important elements of Mercy's cardiovascular program, but the most important ingredient in the success of our program is the teamwork and skills of those providing patient care. Today, Mercy Heart Institute is now know as Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute to reflect its expanded focus on the vascular of cardiovascular disease. In healthcare today, many different specialties collaborate to provide cardiovascular patients with the best possible care. The Institute's name change reflects that collaboration and is in keeping with what is happening with premier heart institutions across the nation.

Mercy's cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, cardiac nurses, specially trained technicians and many others work together to deliver high-quality care that emphasizes the personal needs of patients and their family members.
