Mercy receives Gold Seal of Approval (TM)
Mercy General Hospital and Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute's CHAMP® and Heart Smart programs received the Gold Seal of Approval(TM) from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). This is tremendous recognition considering there are fewer than 20 healthcare organizations in the nation with these disease-specific distinctions, and currently, CHAMP® and Heart Smart are the only heart failure and coronary artery disease-certified programs in California.
Mercy is a unique healthcare provider in that we offer an extensive continuum of care, including emergency heart attack care, intervention and surgery, research, cardiac rehabilitation and ongoing disease management. CHAMP® and Heart Smart both fall under the latter category as outpatient cardiac disease management programs. Through these innovative programs, Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute staff provide ongoing health assistance to individuals with high cholesterol and congestive heart failure.
