Are you at risk for PAD?

The American Heart Association estimates that 8 to 12 million Americans currently have PAD (Peripheral Arterial Disease). And approximately 75% of these individuals never experience symptoms or their symptoms are diagnosed as something else, so it's important to know if you're at risk.

These factors elevate your risk of PAD:

  • Diabetes
  • Smoking
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Over age 50
  • Family history of heart disease
  • Obesity

Don't ignore PAD

If left untreated, PAD symptoms can worsen and may affect your mobility and quality of life. You're also at greater risk for having a heart attack or stroke. Don't ignore it. If caught early, PAD an be treated and controlled, and may help you avoid more serious health problems.

If you have symptoms or think you're at risk, talk to your doctor or call 1.877.9HEART9.
