Mercy General Hospital: Cardiac Care

Mercy General Hospital is proud to be home to the Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI), with one of the largest, most experienced cardiac teams in the nation. The MHVI's renowned cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and vascular surgeons offer a broad spectrum of diagnostic, interventional and surgical treatment options to address your heart and vascular conditions. Many of the procedures performed by Mercy-affiliated physicians are less invasive than traditional open heart procedures, and provide patients with quicker recovery times and less discomfort.

The Mercy team includes specially trained nurses and assistants, all utilizing a collaborative approach and tailoring treatment to each individual's unique needs. The Mercy team performs more cardiac procedures than any other team in California. Mercy General Hospital was also the first hospital in Sacramento be named an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. Mercy General Hospital is also recognized as a Top 100 Hospital for Cardiac Care, with one of the largest and most experienced cardiac surgery teams in the nation.

Among the specialized treatments offered by MHVI are minimally invasive, robotic-assisted valve repair using the da Vinci® Surgical System; the Hansen robotic-assisted electrophysiology system used for minimally invasive treatment of atrial fibrillation; less-invasive aortic valve repair and replacement that does not require open heart surgery; 3-D echocardiogram; and participation in a broad range of clinical research studies.
