A Phase III, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial Evaluating the Efficacy and Safety of Bevacizumab in Combination with Chemotherapy Regimens in Subjects with Previously Treated Metastatic Breast Cancer

Trial Description:
The primary objective of this study is to determine if the addition of bevacizumab to standard chemotherapy for previously treated metastatic breast cancer will be more effective than chemotherapy alone.

Treatment Plan:
Patients will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to:

1. Arm A - chemotherapy plus bevacizumab
2. Arm B - chemotherapy plus placebo

Patients:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have previously treated metastatic adenocarcinoma of the breast
  • No more than one prior chemotherapy treatment for metastatic breast cancer
  • No known or evidence of brain metastasis
  • Lab tests, a current physical exam and medical history must meet study specific criteria
