Visiting Hours & Guidelines

Visiting Hours
General visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. unless otherwise indicated by a physician or nurse. Some patient care areas, such as the Family Birth Center and the Intensive Care Units, have special policies for visitors. For specific hours, please check with your nurse.

Parking
24-hour patient and visitor parking is available in the parking garage, located on the hospital campus just off H Street. Parking fees are $1 per hour and a maximum of $5 per day. The Emergency Department parking lot is reserved only for patients seeking immediate medical assistance.

Patients requiring wheelchair or other assistance may access the hospital through the circular driveway at the hospital's entrance. Valet parking is also available. For help, see one of the uniformed parking attendants.

Free Community Shuttle
Mercy General offers a free community shuttle service between the hospital and the Light Rail stations at 29th and 39th Streets.

Visitor Accommodations
If your loved one is in the hospital and you're far from home, the House of Mercy can help. Located just across the street from Mercy General Hospital, the House of Mercy is an apartment building with comfortable accommodations including a shared kitchen. For more information on rates and availabilities, ask to speak to someone in the Staffing Resources Office.

The Greenhouse Cafeteria
The Greenhouse Cafeteria offers a variety of meals and snacks, from fresh build-your-own salads and sandwiches to complete entrees from the grill. Espresso drinks are also available. The cafeteria is located on the first floor of the East Wing and is open daily for public dining from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Plaza Café
The Plaza Café, located in the Mercy Medical Plaza facing the hospital, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. It offers gourmet coffee, light meals and snacks.

Gift Shop
The Mercy Guild Gift Shop, located in the main lobby, offers a wide selection of gifts, cards and balloons, with new stock arriving regularly. Shop hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays; 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. All proceeds benefit Mercy General Hospital and its services.

Cellular Phones and Personal Computers
To avoid interference with medical equipment in use, we ask that you restrict the use of cellular telephones, two-way radios and all other devices that emit RF transmission to nonpatient care areas such as waiting areas and the Greenhouse Cafeteria.

Smoking
In keeping with the Sacramento City Ordinance that prohibits smoking in public places, and to help ensure the good health of our patients and staff, Mercy General Hospital does not permit smoking in any of its facilities. If you need access to the designated smoking areas, please check with your nurse.
