Dedication to our community
Mercy is part of the fabric of the Sacramento community and as such,
we believe that caring for the community goes well beyond the walls of our hospital.
- It involves reaching out to the community, sharing our knowledge and resources, providing information and education
- It means supporting other organizations throughout the community who share our mission and values, ensuring their continued success and extended reach
- It requires providing excellence in care and service for all members of our community
These basic beliefs are what guide Mercy every day.
Mercy General often participates in community events including the Sacramento Zoo's summertime Ice Cream Safari, but with a twist - Mercy provides healthy alternative fruit smoothies. We annually host the popular Heart to Heart event - designed to educate women about heart disease in an elegant and enjoyable venue. And we provide regular classes and health screenings - often free to participants - including joint pain classes and prostate cancer screenings for men.
Each year, Mercy and Dignity Health present local non-profit agencies with funds to support their efforts. Since 1990 when the Community Grants Program began, Mercy as distributed nearly $3.7 million to 200 organizations in the Sacramento area.
In addition, Mercy operates Mercy McMahon Terrace, a licensed residential care facility for seniors, and several free or low-cost health clinics, including MercyClinic Loaves & Fishes and MercyClinic Norwood.
