It was a day for the record books. On February 17, 2011, Mercy General Hospital physicians, staff, volunteers, special construction project donors, community members, local government officials and neighbors came together for “Top This!”, an event that celebrated celebrate placement of the final piece of steel on the Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center.

More than 100 attendees braved the outside event in spite of the fact that the Sacramento area was pounded by 30-mile-per-hour wind gusts, sideways rain and unseasonably cold temperatures. This celebration was a milestone event for the Spanos Heart & Vascular Center and puts the project one step closer to a scheduled opening the late summer of 2012.
