Mercy General named on national 100 Top Hospitals list
Mercy General Hospital has been named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals, joining sister hospital Mercy San Juan Medical Center among only four California hospitals receiving this designation.
Thomson, an information products company that provides tools and insights to help hospitals improve overall performance, released the latest Top 100 list on its Web site (www.100tophospitals.com) on March 12. A story also appeared in Modern Healthcare.
In the "100 Top Hospitals, National Benchmarks for Success" report, Thomson (formerly Solucient) compared hospitals across the country in five critical areas: clinical outcomes, patient safety, operational efficiency, growth and financial stability.
"This is our second Top 100 honor in the past three months and serves as an incredible tribute to the Mercy physicians, staff and volunteers who focus every day on providing excellent care to our patients," says Denny Powell, Hospital President. "We thank each of them for delivering the best in patient care and are proud of their dedication to the healthcare of our community."
Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center are listed among 20 hospitals in the large community hospital category. Thomson also recognized 15 major teaching hospitals, 25 teaching hospitals, 20 medium community hospitals and 20 small community hospitals.
